I'm always sick , I'm never well.

Seriously. SERIEROISLLY!1 *sniff*
I have another cold, winter hasn't been good to me thus far. I feel totally mentally exhausted, and therefore I really don't have anything intelligent to write blog write about. Eeugh...

Being as though I have all this ample amount of free time to exercise my creativity these days, I took the evening to record yet another cover, this time a new song by Fever Ray; The Knife's Karin Dreijer Andersson's solo project. I did a quick Sharpie sketch of the album art, as well. I'm that bored and nerdy.

Seeing as though the album itself doesn't even come out until March, I don't really think I could be anymore current. I should be making BLOGHOUSE remixes instead. Like 15 a day of songs that don't come out until Holidays 2009. I'm in the wrong field.
I need more Cold FX.
Enjoy, and thanks for reading my dribble.

Visine

take the dryness away!
Quelle manifique!

Lazy day, and I'm embarrassed by my own voice.
I recorded a cover of a Vetiver song at the request of my friend Mac today.
As per usual, I'm sharing it with youuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
Enjoy!

If anyone else wants to hear a cover of anything, let me know. I'm not feeling motivated enough to work on my own songs at this point.

Meow.

Feeling kind of sick, tired and anxious from a failed psychoactive brownie ingested late last night. To offset the feeling, I'm uploading a couple of paintings I finished over the course of the past couple of weeks. Still need some work, but I'm happy with them.

The shows that never were.

Hello friends!
Here are a couple event posters I designed a few days ago for my portfolio. The first one is for a completely fake show that never happened. I only dream. The 2nd is based on Paper Saw's actually farewell show but was never used and the 3rd which I designed during the summer is legit and was actually used to promote our Casbah showcase date. :)

(First and third done exclusively in MS Paint.)

Ill, it seems

with the flu. Very bad timing, OCAD interview in seven days. Hopefully only a 24 hour bug of some sort. Perhaps I've been spending too much time over top of turpentine. I'm going to try take the opportunity to get something recorded and posted here later tonight. :)

Update, as promised:

Foxes in Fiction - "OCAD Flu"

Written, recorded and mastered in about three hours, using Ableton Live 6.
Enjoy.

Hi there.
I spent a bit of time working on a new song called Joshua and the Paper Saw, featuring samples alluding to both these thing. It'll probably go through a few more revisions before I'm completely happy with it, but I figured I'd share this before I butchered it any further.
The melody is made up of a bunch of loops I've recorded over the course the past few weeks, with a hefty amount of voice sampled spliced in, collected from YouTube, old cassette recordings, and late night MSN Messenger conversations.
I basically ripped off The Books.

Regardless, enjoy.

(In the mean time, I recorded a short softsynth-driven ambient attempt as a representation / homage to Alex Bull.)

Nice night.

It was still about 6 degrees at 1:30 AM earlier tonight so I decided to walk to the grocery store to get some EATZ. It was incredibly beautiful outside, for winter anyways.
The air was filled with the smells you'd normally associate with spring. It brought on a whirlwind flood of feeling and thoughts into my head, and I started getting these really intensely vivid flashbacks from earlier parts in my life. Stuff I hadn't felt or thoughts about all winter. I was elated.
It's like how they always say smell and the olfactory system is the sense that is the most closely associated with memory. I guess that's example of that. It was a weird experience, but worth blogging about?
Spring is coming.

I'm really bad at coming up with titles for my posts.

Fun, free times.
Taken on a whim with Mike.
"What's a big place that has lighting a 6 30 PM."

Oakville Place, of course!

Oh, I made a happy little addition to my minuature set, and furthered my near-obsession with incorporating microKORG's into my artwork!:

Still at it.

Another day of my youth burned off while locked inside my home, practically chained to the practice of systematically creating art(s).
On a much lighter note, I was happy to find that a looping pedal that I won eBay manifested itself on my doorway this morning:

Horray!
It came professionally packaged in this beautiful piece of thoughtfulness:

Mmm duct tape. At least they're thinking effeciently.

As promised, I put together a mix for my friend Mike Travis who is currently feeling a bit under the weather. It's located below, for anyone else who'd like to enjoy a little something new, or maybe not so new...
It's a blend of mostly downtempo, dreamy, melancholy 'indie' songs from many extremely Canadian and American musicans, all spanning the past few years, with the most aggressive track being Animal Collective. AHAHA. A pleasurable listening experience, overall.
Enjoy, and feel better, Mike.

Hello sunny day.

The weather was so beautiful today, so I decided to go outside and visit some friends and take some photos, as I've finally begun to enjoy the practice once again. Thanks Blacks.
After taking about 30 exposures, I realized the LCD display on my camera said the roll was at 39 exp., so after rolling up what I thought was an extended roll of film, I opened it to discover there was nothing inside in camera. Epic fail. Oh well.

I've decided to borrow a page from the Deerhunter blog and try my luck at making pseudo-regular installments of mixes for all my loving friends and readers (nonexistent) to download, and all at a very agreeable size, so not only are your ears saved, so is your hard drive! I believe this is only something like 39 MBs, and rendered at 192 kb/s.
This one is a slightly esoteric blend of everything my iTunes could throw at me. I think I overdid it on the indie. Sorry everyone.
Enjoy!
